 Des Moines is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Lowa. The city is located and named after the Des Moines River which was adapted from the early French name, Riviera Des Moines which means “River of the Monks. The city population was estimated to be 214,237 in the year 2019. It is the largest metropolitan area and is fully located within the state.
